YAA Instrumental is a place for musicians to gather in small groups – applying their solo skills and collaborating to make great music! Ensemble members will be matched by age, instrument, and musical interest to create anything from rock bands, to string quartets, or even bluegrass bands. YAA Instrumental is part music and history lesson, part performance and ear training, and always lots of fun!

Ensemble members will be matched by age, instrumentation, musical interests, and student availability.

VOCAL PERFOMANCE

Grades 8-12 By Invitation Only

This advanced class is for students who are ready to perform solo in front of their peers, faculty, and visiting guest artists, in order to build better performance and audition skills. Students will study different styles of music as they prepare repertoire for NYSSMA, musical salons, the annual benefit and our spring production. If they are ready, high school seniors will work towards a final senior solo recital.

Thursdays, 6:00–8:00 PM

Tuition: $1,200 yearly

MUSIC MAKERS

Music Makers is a class that explores everything that goes into the “making” of a song. Students will dive into lyric writing, writing a rap, studying song form, as well as music theory applicable to songwriting. Each week students will be encouraged to bring something to work on, which will be revised, and refined as the year progresses. The class will culminate with an intro to basic recording techniques, with each student recording their song alongside faculty and musicians from the YAA Instrumental division. Come make music with us!

Thursdays, 4:00PM-5:00PM

Tuition: $500 yearly
